Opening the show was SZN by Suzan Dlouhy, a strong collection focussed on recycled and sustainable fashion. Using unconventional materials and remnants from pre-consumer waste, SZN utilised a wide variety of textures and fabrics (leather, cord, studs) to create pieces that wouldn’t have been out of place in a Mad Max desert wasteland.
Painted white faces, trilbys and akubra-style hats, army boots and thrifted shoes, and printed tights offset a primarily black and white collection for men and women.
Our favourite pieces were the black and white shift dress with keyhole neckline, a daring panelled dress with open-weave sides, and a male bolero which turned a traditionally feminine piece into one with a masculine edge.
